Rosie’s Roses mini goldendoodle puppies have arrived!

Here in Central Oregon, it feels like we’ve been waiting for this mini goldendoodle litter for a long time. For those of you who have been waiting with us, the wait is over!

Rosie delivered five beautiful mini goldendoodle puppies throughout the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, August 10th. Rosie’s first few puppies came quick, and there was a brief “intermission” before she delivered the final two mini goldendoodle puppies.

All mini goldendoodles involved - puppies and momma - made it through, and are healthy.

Rosie’s mini goldendoodle litter theme is a nod to another source of our joy and pleasure.

Over the past several years, I’ve fallen in love with roses. The combination of their beauty and fragrance is florally second to none, and I love how well they can flourish with a little bit of care. Few things are more pleasurable than taking in a deep smell of a fragrant rose.

In the world of roses, David Austin roses stands out as one of the best rose growers in the world, and we’ve become smitten with their stunning array of English shrub and climbing roses. They combine classic rose sensitivities with some new flourishes.

So we felt it was only fitting to name Rosie’s first litter after some of our favorite David Austin roses.

With five beautiful mini Goldendoodle puppies, we picked out five of our favorite David Austin roses.

Our only boy mini goldendoodle in the green collar is

Graham, named after the Graham Thomas rose, a fragrant climbing rose with a cheerful yellow flower.

Desi is in the white collar; she’s named after Desdemona, a wonderful white rose with a touch of blush and more than a touch of fragrance.

Our mini Goldendoodle puppy Emma has the yellow collar. She’s named after Lady Emma Hamilton, which is the rose above. It’s a stunning rose with dark foliage, a reddish apricot flower, and a citrus aroma.

Juliet has the pink collar, and is named after the Sweet Juliet rose. Apparently David Austin spent $3 million to develop this rose. It has a “glowing apricot” bloom and a strong tea scent.

Our last mini goldendoodle puppy is Violet, who fittingly has the violet collar. She’s named after Rein Des Violettes, an old rose with a magenta flower, and has few thorns.

Here’s some info on this mini goldendoodle litter. There are four female puppies, and one male puppy. Three of them are cream colored with some white abstract markings, while one of them is red, and the final one (Violet) is phantom merle.

While Violet’s coloring seems so unique from the others, here’s something that’s interesting. The way merle genetics work, all of the other mini Goldendoodle puppies could be carrying the merle gene as well, but they don’t have a merle phenotype. Violet is the the only puppy that didn't inherit a red gene from Brownie, leading to both his phantom and merle to present.

All of “Rosie’s Roses” mini goldendoodle puppies are doing great. They’ve all figured out feeding, which can be tough. Plus, they have all grained weight each day, which is especially important for young Goldendoodle puppies. We will continue to weigh them every day until they’re two weeks old in order to make sure these mini Goldendoodle puppies continue to flourish.

We have also begun with Early Neurological Stimulation and early scent introduction. This is to help stimulate resilience and a familiarity with the surrounding world’s diversity. These goldendoodle puppies have experienced the smells of an alpaca and pine chips. They all enjoyed alpaca, but a couple of them didn’t like the pine chips; go figure!

We will continue these exercises for the next two weeks, and then transition to other enrichment and stimulation exercises. They’ll still be nursing for a while before we begin to introduce puppy mush, so we hope they’ll continue to feast like they have been doing!

We are thrilled by how well Rosie’s mini-goldendoodle roses have been doing. They’re all showing signs of progress and growth. We are thrilled to continually share this litter’s story, and what kind of great adventure are ahead of them. Rosie has been an attentive and helpful momma too! She wasn’t sure of what was happening to her during labor, but she did a great job, and has really embraced being a mini-Goldendoodle momma. She is also beginning to develop a balance with spending time with her puppies, and being out with us.

Continue to follow along with Rosie’s Roses litter! They’re currently all reserved, and we are excited to see where each will land along the west coast. It’s a privilege to share this joy with you, and please let us know if you have any thoughts or questions!

Warmly,

Erin and Jay
