Our Newest Goldendoodle Momma; meet Ms. Winnie
Allow us to introduce you to Winnie!
She is a three-year old mini Goldendoodle momma, and is joining us from another Goldendoodle breeder in Colorado. Over the past few weeks, we had been talking to the breeder about her, and whether she’d be a good fit with us here in Oregon. When the time came, I roadtripped from Central Oregon to Colorado Springs to pick her up. It was a whirlwind of a couple days, sampling some of the best food that rest stops and gas stations could offer, while listening to audiobooks and country music. While it was a wild trip for both Winnie and myself - starting with Saturday afternoon Denver traffic (what?!) - she faced it with curiosity and calmness. When we arrived in Central Oregon, Winnie settled in with her new guardian family and proceeded to claim the couch as her place.
Winnie has come over and spent some time with our current litters, and its very evident that she absolutely adores being a momma. Winnie has had two previous mini goldendoodle litters, and has done a great job with both of them. She needs minimal help with caring for the puppies as she it tender and caring. Winnie is drawn to any puppies that she’s around, doting on them and making sure the mini goldendoodles are good to go.
Winnie has passed all of her health-screening to receive the top blue-ribbon ranking from GANA for health-tested Goldendoodles. This includes genetic screening, along with hips, elbows, eyes, patellas, and cardiac testing. We continue to place a high premium on making sure that all of our Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle parents are health-tested to GANA’s top standards. It’s important for our puppy parents to be flourishing, because so many health issues are inherited in some way. While we can’t test for all of them, there are a good amount we can screen for. This helps us make proper and responsible breeding choices.
Going forward, we are expecting to breed Winnie with Luca on her next cycle this winter, which will hopefully produce a litter of beautiful mini Goldendoodles with curly and wavy apricot/red coats, along with some white abstract markings. Both Winnie and Luca are clear of any breed-relevant genetic disorders, or even potentially destructive alleles, which is another great reason for them to be paired. They also have tender spirits with warm hearts, and love being loved - although some may say that’s a hallmark of the goldendoodle.
As always, stay tuned for updates regarding Winnie, and her planned winter litter of mini Goldendoodles with Luca.
Warmly,
Erin and Jay
