Our Goldendoodle Puppies are all growing up
This week has been a wonderfully wild one here at High Desert Family Doodles! We started it by sending Rosie’s Roses petite goldendoodle litter home to their forever home. A little later in the week, we did puppy selection with Luna’s Starry Night standard goldendoodle litter, and got to find out where they are all headed. Also, Honey’s Sweets medium goldendoodle puppies began to move around, and celebrated some firsts. Alongside of all of these milestones, we have had plenty of socialization, stimulation, exposure, cuddles, and pets that make it tough to not have a permanent smile on our faces (although all the puppy poop can have a sobering impact). Come check out some of the fun we’ve been having!
This past weekend, Rosie’s Rose litter got to finally meet their forever families. We’re so grateful to be a part of such as sweet experience! Rosie’s Roses mini goldendoodles went all throughout Washington and Oregon. Two of Rosie’s mini goldendoodles went to live in the Seattle, Washington area; Olive (who was Emma), and Graham (who was Graham - his family wanted to keep the name!). Desi - now Remi - went to live in Ashland, Oregon. Our other two mini petite goldendoodles are staying in Central Oregon. Juliet - now Ellie - is living in Redmond, Oregon. Finally, Violet - who is now Chloe - will be living in Powell Butte, Oregon. One thing that’s extra sweet about Chloe’s destination is that she will be living with some of our parents! She’ll spend some more time with us for boarding and training, which we’re completely fine with since Chloe has all of our hearts.
Meanwhile, this has been an eventful week for Luna’s goldendoodle puppies. We did their temperament testing in the middle of last week, and met with the families over the weekend to place their goldendoodle puppies, as these goldendoodle puppies will be spreading out across the west coast. Four of them will be staying in Oregon; they will be going to Bend, Medford, Hillsboro, and Portland. Two of the goldendoodle puppies will be going to Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. Finally, one will be going to Boise, Idaho and the last one will go to San Diego, California. It’s fun to see people seeking these beautiful puppies from all throughout the west coast. This past week, we’ve focused on crate/sound/people exposure, manding training, and initial house training. It’s wild to see their little wheels spinning, as the goldendoodle puppies learn and adapt on the fly to our stimulus in order to solve the problems they're facing. True to form, these puppies have not met a person they didn’t like, and are quick to greet friends or strangers with a wagging tail and huge smile. Six of them go home this weekend, and the final two will go home over the next couple weeks.
That leaves us with our funny, quirky, and downright splendid Honey’s Sweets litter of medium goldendoodles. This week they turned five weeks old (wait, what?!). Let me tell you: they are getting around. They have a huge drive to play and frolic with each other, Luna’s puppies, and other people too! While there is a variety of sizes, they all are down to rumble with each other in a great goldendoodle frolic. We introduced them to a couple of outside textures, such as gravel, chips, and dirt/grass. While Honey still feeds them occasionally, these goldendoodle puppies have began to get solid foods. You know what; they like it too! We are beginning to introduce the potty pads when they sleep and rest, and they’re doing a great job at learning that this is where they should go to the bathroom. While Honey still does want to feed them, she doesn’t do it for too long. I think she is getting tired of their teeth.
All in all, it feels like we’re coming to an end of quite full season for us. We’ve had three litters with us for the five weeks before this week. This week, it slows down in some ways as we will have sent two litters home, and now get to invest and nurture Honey’s litter as they enter into a sweet season. It’s been fun to connect with Rosie’s Roses mini goldendoodle families, and see how the puppies - and puppy parents - are handling their adjustment. We’re also really excited to meet Luna’s puppy parents in person, and send off Luna’s goldendoodle babies to bond and grow with their families.
It’s such a blessing to raise, nurture, and equip these puppies to be sources of joy and love for their people. We look forward to seeing what adventures are in store for Luna’s and Rosie’s babies.
Now, time to give Honey’s medium Goldendoodle babies the love and training they need to flourish. Wish us luck!
Warmly,
Erin and Jay
