Summer Puppy Sweetness

mini Goldendoodle puppy for Salem and Eugene

Early July was wild for us, and the rest of July is full of a different rhythm that’s full of sweetness. At the beginning of this month, we got to send off two litters of mini goldendoodles, while also welcoming another litter of puppies. Now we only have one litter with us. This opens up some opportunies for us as a family. However, we also have no shortage of things to do as we prepare for our next season of puppy parties.

An armful of puppies

These little cuddle monsters were such a joy to raise one armful at a time!

We started July off by sending home Chloe and Rosie’s petite goldendoodle litters on back to back weekends. These weekends are such as special space as we get to experience the joy of people meeting their newest family member for the first time. People were smiling and tails were wagging as these litters went to homes up and down the west coast in Washington, Oregon, and California. Go home days are a flurry of activity. We take care of any last minute tasks and answer as many questions as we can, and help our puppies meet their families on a wonderful note. It’s particularly fun to hear people share their stories about what drew them to certain puppies, and what they observed through watching the litters grow up.

Our deep friends have become guardians!

It’s so fun to share this journey with some of our best friends.

We also had the fabulous opportunity of having some long-time friends become guardians for us. We known this family for over twenty years, and shared some of the biggest moments of our lives with them. So it just felt natural to share this part of our journey with them as well. So Sandy from Rosie’s litter is now Bella, and will be calling Terrebonne, Oregon home as she goes through her health testing to make sure we can breed her responsibly.

TIRED PUPPY

We’re also approaching an end of a chapter with our first mom, Honey. She had her retirement litter of eight beautiful goldendoodle puppies. With Murphy’s Law in full swing, Honey delivered puppies the same day as one of our mini Goldendoodle puppy selection day. Needless to say, that day was action-packed while Honey was a rockstar. Our daughter also got to take the lead on delivering a couple of the puppies, which was beautiful to see her handle that kind of responsibility. So Honey’s Harry Potter litter of medium goldendoodle puppies is made up of three females and five males. These little cuties are all gaining weight, and most of them have their eyes open. They’ll be heading home in September, and we’re enjoying this last journey of motherhood with Honey, as she’s been such a fabulous puppy momma.

Nelly is enjoying some love from one of her guardians!

We’re also awaiting the arrival of another mother-daughter litter duo, as Nelly and Yose both have litters due in August. In echoes of Rosie and Chloe, this will be Yose’s retirement litter with us, while it will be Nelly’s first litter. These two bernedoodle litters will be pretty close together, so we’re interested to see how this will play out! Yose’s litter will be standard Bernedoodles, while Nelly’s litter will be medium Bernedoodles. It’s going to be wild to see these two moms raise puppies together, and what similarities and differences are present between them.

Yose’s is looking fun and fabulous with the fresh groom and bandana.

We’ve also wrapped up breeding Klaire with Brownie and Juno with Rudy, hopefully leading to mini Bernedoodles and Goldendoodles born in late September to early October. To continue the trend, this will be Klaire’s last litter for us and Juno’s first litter with us. We still have a couple spots available on Klaire’s pre-whelp waitlist, while Juno’s pre whelp list is currently fully until we see how many puppies she delivers.

So as we are here on the cusp of August, we’re ramping up for a spirited couple months as we enjoy the rest of the summer and get ready for fall to be in full swing. Staying present in current moment while getting prepared for the future is a intricate and delicate art form, but I hope we’re getting better at it as we care for our current puppies while getting ready for our upcoming ones. Stay tuned!

Warmly,

Erin and Jay
