Honey’s Last Litter

Joyful Redmond Madras Goldendoodle

As August ends and September begins, we are getting ready to say farewell to Honey’s last litter. Honey is High Desert Family Doodle’s first dog. She has been such a wonderful part of our breeding program as we have grown in multiple different ways. So as we get ready to send her litter home this coming week, we are a little more reflective about the miles we’ve journeyed together. However, our feet are also tied firmly to the ground as we focus attention on helping these goldendoodle puppies finish well under our care, along with nurturing other puppies and dogs alike. While the season has been quite busy, it has also been pregnant with a fullness that’s tough to put into words, but also deeply satisfying.

Milk Coma

Honey had her litter of 8 beautiful medium Goldendoodle puppies in early July. Honey has been a great mom for all of her litters, and her final one was no exception. She whelped her litter with no complications, giving them all intentional care as they became wiggly little puppy potatoes. Now, she is done nursing them and gets to enjoy her retirement life, full of treats, tennis balls, pets, and chasing birds (many of her favorite things). Her litter is getting ready to head to their homes this week, with most of them going to homes in Oregon - Sherwood, Hillsboro, West Linn - while a couple of these puppies are calling Seattle and Vancouver, Washington home.

Yose’s Last Litter

Yose -always the attentive mother - showing her bernedoodle puppies love as they rest and eat.

As we are winding down our time with Honey’s retirement litter, we also just welcomed another of our momma’s retirement litter. Yose gave birth to ELEVEN beautiful standard bernedoodle puppies. She had eight girls and three boys. We got our genetic testing back, and two of them have flat coats, while the rest of these standard bernedoodles are furnished. This was Yose’s longest delivery, but she was able to deliver all of her puppies naturally. After a couple weeks, both momma and puppies are healthy, which is always a blessing to see. We still have a couple puppies available in this litter, and we think they’ll most likely be furnished males. Puppy selection for this litter will be October 12th, and puppy go-home will be October 19th.

This is Rey!

Rey came to Central Oregon from Ohio, and he’s loving it here.

We also just added a couple new cuties to our pack! We acquired two mini bernedoodle brothers that will hopefully be studs for us down the road, provided they pass their health testing. These mini bernedoodles flew in to Redmond Oregon from Ohio, and came from a dear breeding friend of ours, Berns and Doodles. It feels really fitting, because both Yose and Belle came from this same breeder, and they were sisters from the same litter too! Their health screening begins in the beginning of October, when they’ll get their hips and elbows screened. We’re hoping to place these two in guardians homes, and we’re still on the search. If you’re interested, you can find more on our website guardian page.

A New Season

This fall is has a fresh breeze in our lives, and we hope that we can be more joyful because of it.

As we enter into fall at full speed, we feel quite stretched with so many things going on. However, after training and petting the puppies for a few minutes in the puppy yard, we can take a deep breath and experience a fullness of gratitude with this joyful journey of doing all we can to raise fabulous family goldendoodles and bernedoodles. As we transition from our first generation of dogs to our next one, we will cherish this whole winding path.

Warmly,

Erin and Jay
