Meet Brownie; Our Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle Stud

Our Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle Stud Brownie just got a glow up; Portland Oregon - Seattle Washington

Up to this point, we’ve only introduced some of the Goldendoodle queens of High Desert Family Doodles, but here is our first KING. In fact, we lovingly call him our “Dark Prince”.

Meet Brownie! His registered name is High Desert Caramel Brownie, and he is one of our studs, both for our Goldendoodle and our Bernedoodle lines. He came to us from outside of Boise, Idaho and currently lives with a guardian family in Madras, Oregon. Brownie turns heads where he goes. He loves people, and is excited to meet new people and puppies. He also has a strong, distinguished presence and is quite confident, even though he might be a little smaller in stature. His is doing great with sitting on command, and even throws the handshake around from time to time.

Brownie is registered with the AKC, and “technically” he’s a standard poodle.

Why is “technically” is quotes like that, you ask? Well, because AKC classifies a standard poodle as one that is “over 15 inches in height” at the highest point of the shoulders. So, a standard poodle could stand 16 inches tall or 30 inches tall. So Brownie - who is 28 pounds - would be classified with a poodle that is 70 pounds!

Since there is such a large range in the standard sized poodle, many find it helpful to classify these in-between poodles as Moyen Poodles, which means “medium” in French. A moyen poodle’s size range is typically between 15-20 inches tall, and between 15-30 pounds.

We spent a lot of time looking for a stud that would be smaller in stature, and that would be both a strong Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle stud, and found this little diamond in the rough.

Brownie’s a Stunning Bernedoodle and Goldendoodle Stud

He will stud Goldendoodles headed to Tacoma Washington and Salem Oregon

Brownie has great structure. He has a wonderfully light and inline gait, and maintains a strong posture and great eye contact. He has a phantom abstract coat, with strong tan points and a flash of white on his muzzle and chest. This would compliment the classic tri-color Bernedoodle coat. However, he also carries the red gene, so he could throw both phantom and red puppies depending on the mom’s genetics. This is why we will also use him as a Goldendoodle stud for us as well.

Brownie also carries the parti/piebald gene, so he could produce both apricot parti and tri-color parti Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle puppies.

Brownie’s most unique genetic trait is that he has a wavy coat (+/- curl), meaning that he could produce straight-coated F1 and F1b Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles. Because of how loose his coat is, when it grows long, he could be mistaken for a kooshball with legs - or an 80’s perm.

As with all of our Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle parents, Brownie will undergo health-screening to make sure he’s a good breeding candidate. He has currently passed his Pennhip hip screening, and OFA elbow and patella prelims. In the coming months, he will complete his OFA CAER eye testing. After that, he will be cleared for takeoff!

Brownie’s Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle 2022 Schedule is Packed

From Bellevue Washington to Bend Oregon, Golden Doodle stud Brownie's strutting his stuff

If/when he passes his final round of health screening, he has two planned litters of Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle puppies for 2022.

His first litter will be with Rosie for mini/petite Goldendoodle puppies that will be late summer.

His second litter will be with Yosemite, for medium/mini Bernedoodles puppies, and that will be in the fall/winter.

The waitlist is currently full for the Rosie x Brownie litter, but we are accepting applications for the Yosemite x Brownie Bernedoodle waitlist.

We are extremely excited for Brownie’s future of High Desert Family Doodle Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles, and just get an incredible amount of joy from seeing his frivolity and spirit.

Thanks for being here, and please reach out to us if you have and thoughts or questions!

Warmly,

Erin and Jay
