Bernedoodle Puppies, Goldendoodles Puppies: What a Month of Puppies!
Since we did puppy picks last month, we have had quite the ride! We sent Winnie's, Belle’s and Klaire's litters home over the next couple weeks. We had one of Winnie’s Goldendoodle puppies stay long with us, along with finding a better fitting home for one of Honey’s previous puppies. We also had to coordinating breeding one of our Bernedoodle females who came into season. While this was taking place, Rosie and Honey had Goldendoodle litters over the past couple weeks. Luna is due in a couple weeks, which could be the culmination of our season. It’s been a wild ride of adaptation, logistics, puppy cuddles, and the occasional potty accident, but we are here for it!
Let’s first talk about sending Belle, Klaire, and Winnie’s home. We had everything lined up for puppy go home date going into their week 7 puppy vet visit. However, we were all surprised when our smallest puppy ended up testing positive for Parvo! We had no idea where it came from, as this litter was probably the most studiously protected out of the three litters. This our of events quickly shifted us into damage control and prevention to keep any of the other puppies for contracting it. We delayed puppy pickup over a week to make sure both Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle puppies were healthy. The next two weeks were spent cleaning, inspecting dog poop, managing dog exposure, and some more cleaning. At the end of two weeks, the positive puppy recovered and no other puppy tested positive - major prayer answered - and we were able to send all of the puppies home. We even flew one of them to Los Angeles! We were blown away by the support and love we received from our puppy families, and it was a special thing to go on this puppy journey with them!
We ended up having a couple goldendoodle puppies either stay longer with us, or return to us for a brief time. First, Juno - one of Winnie’s mini goldendoodle puppies - stayed a couple extra weeks with us. Hopefully she will be a future Goldendoodle momma for us, as long as she passes all of her testing. She got to stay with us until her Bend Oregon guardian family was ready. That gave us a little more time to work on early obedience and house training, while also imprinting on her a little more. Additionally, one of Honey’s Sweet litter came back to us because he was proving to be a difficult fit in his family. As a responsible breeder, we want all of our Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles to find great homes, so we welcomed him back to us until we could find him a great home. This didn’t take too long, and we were able to find him a sweet family from Newberg Oregon that quickly clicked with him. It was funny/sad too, because we found ourselves quickly getting attached to him once more!
Around the same time, Yosemite came into heat. We worked with her Bend Oregon guardian family to find a time to do some progesterone testing, after which Yosemite stayed with us for a week while Remi and her honeymooned! With this being their second pairing, it came pretty easy and we are hopeful for this pairing!
Finally, we are in the middle of our next goldendoodle litter ramp up! Rosie had a litter of seven petite goldendoodles, and it’s a rainbow of colors! We have a couple reds, sables, a phantom, and a merle tri-color! To continue Rosie’s botanical litter naming, this is her Flower litter: Tulip, Primrose, Hops, Phlox, Lilac, Tiger Lily, and Aster. They are all growing and thriving; it’s beautiful to see!
We also had some more excitement this week, as Honey quick-delivered on us. She wasn’t showing any signs of labor, but she entered into labor in a matter of a couple of hours and delivered a puppy before either of us got home! As a testament to Honey’s mothering skills, this puppy is doing great along with her litter mates. Over the next few hours, Honey delivered eleven goldendoodle puppies. This litter is our Narnia litter, as we’ve been spending some time as a family reading this series. So we have Aslan, Peter, Edmund, Tumnus, Caspian, Digory, Shasta, Strawberry, Susan, Polly, and Lucy. There are definitely some classic names missing, so we may need to do another Narnia litter down the road.
We are also expecting Luna’s litter next week, so we are ramping up for another season of puppy parties! While it may be quite a bit of work, it’s also unfathomably rewarding. It’s such a pleasure to help nurture these little treasures for their forever families from San Diego California to Seattle Washington! While I’m sure we will be surprised by some more things along the way, we do feel deeply called to this journey, and absolutely adore getting to know our families and allowing them to find their best friends!
In the meantime, please enjoy all of our puppy spam!
With Love,
Erin and Jay
