Yose’s Last Bernedoodle Puppies
Here at High Desert Family Doodles, we’re going through an era of fair wells and goodbyes. This holds true for October as well. Yose’s retirement litter is spending its final two weeks with us before they go to their forever homes, and Yose sets off into her next chapter of life with her guardian home. Yose’s bernedoodle sister Belle recently went through potentially her last heat cycle with us, and will have her last bernedoodle litter in a the next couple months. Also, some of our new moms have been bred - or are currently raising - their first litter of goldendoodle puppies. Come along as we give a little update on what’s going on here in central Oregon!
First off, Yose’s standard bernedoodle puppies are getting ready to go home on October 19th. While Yose’s delivery was a little harrowing for us - with some long pauses between puppies - she delivered all of her puppies, and has been a puppy mom Allstar. Yose has been one of our better mommas. She has naturally nursed her puppies, and seems to like it. I think that she’d prefer to nurse much longer than most of our moms, so we have to make a focused effort to wean her. Yose’s been a great example for us of a Bernedoodle mom who has a strong maternal instinct, while also being easy-going and sociable with both people and other dogs. We’re deeply grateful for our time with Miss Yosemite, as we got to see her from a young pup to now a momma in the prime of her life. We’re also wildly grateful for the love that she has experienced from so many different people, and are thrilled for her loving guardian home.
As Yose wraps up her last litter with us, her sister Belle is beginning the arc of what could be her last litter with us. She was bred with Brownie at the end of September, so we’re hoping to see her medium bernedoodle puppies arrive at the end of November. We were considering using a different stud for Belle’s last litter, but we are finishing how we started: we paired Belle with Brownie this time. This Belle x Brownie pairing has produced some fabulous puppies with fun temperaments and a consistent size - although there’s always outliers. We will be able to confirm Belle’s pregnancy with an ultrasound at the beginning of November, and - if she is pregnant with medium bernedoodles - she’s due around November 30th. Belle has been a fabulous puppy momma, just like her sister Yose. We’re looking forward to our time with Belle’s next litter, and hope it’s sooner rather than later.
As we say farewell to some of our first group of moms, some of our first time moms are entering the chat. Our mini Goldendoodle momma Juno is raising her first litter of puppies with us right now. These mini Goldendoodle puppies are now around three weeks old. Juno had seven healthy mini Goldendoodle puppies who have been vigorously growing, getting increasingly mobile, and mostly have their eyes open. We currently have one spot open on this litter, which will be heading home in the middle of November. Juno had our quickest labor to date, giving birth to the seven over the course of a couple hours. She’s also been an attentive momma who has quickly picked up nursing her litter. She’s taken a little while to get settled in, but found a rhythm.
While Juno is taking care of her litter, we recently bred Plum for her first litter. Plum is a Winnie x Luca puppy - just like Juno - and is paired with Rudy. Plum’s guardian is just down the street from Rudy’s guardian. Plus they both know each other. So it’s added a sweet layer of personal connection as we play the match maker. Plum is on a similar timing to Belle, where we can confirm the pregnancy at the beginning of November, and a due date towards the end of November. Stay tuned for more details on this Miss Plum’s litter as the date gets closer.
Our late summer and early fall was pretty open, and we had a small break from puppies. However, our late autumn and early winter will be a little different. We’re getting ready to send a couple litters home soon, and welcome a couple more to the world. It can be nice to have a bit of a lull, but we’re ready for a season that’s a little busier. As we go from one season to the next, I find myself becoming increasingly grateful for the previous seasons. I also hope to be present to the season that we’re walking through right now, loving on each goldendoodle and bernedoodle puppy as we strive to help them flourish. It reminds me of parenting at points, where the days are long, but the years are short. So here we go to the next season!
Warmly,
Erin and Jay
