Our New Petite Goldendoodle Stud Rudy!

Our New Petite Goldendoodle Puppy Rudy, Bend Oregon and Seattle Washington

Our Petite Goldendoodle Here in Oregon

With all that we have had happening, we finally introducing our hopeful stud Rudy! The petite Goldendoodle joined High Desert Family Doodles in September from another goldendoodle breeder in Utah. As a petite goldendoodle, he has some unique traits, and has passed his health-testing at this point, although their are more to come. Rudy’s spirit and temperament are enduring, and he is currently in Madras, Oregon. We are hopeful about him being a future petite goldendoodle stud for us here in Oregon, and are excited to share more about this gregarious Goldendoodle.

Mini Goldendoodle with a Big Heart

Rudy was bred by Ciara at Four Dudes and a Doodle in Utah. She’s become a great friend and an encourager, so we were excited to have one of her petite mini goldendoodles join our program. She even brought Rudy out to us, and stayed with us for a few days. It was a rich time of connecting with another goldendoodle breeder, and encouraging each other in the midst of it. Rudy spent his first few weeks with us working on some of the basics, like house and crate-training. It was also another exposure opportunity with the different dogs we have around our house. Rudy warmed up to them pretty quickly!

Rudy’s a Health-Tested Mini Goldendoodle

Rudy’s first health testing was a Goldendoodle DNA test through Embark. Embark combines DNA health risk screening, with a breed confirmation and trait analysis. Ciara had already done some testing through Animal Genetics before he came to Oregon. However, this Embark testing also includes Rudy’s microchip, which is necessary to have in order to register Rudy with the Goldendoodle Association of North America. Embark uses a saliva sample from the dog which we gather and mail to them. It took a couple weeks to get the results back, and Rudy passed with flying colors! First, Rudy was confirmed as a Goldendoodle, which caused us to let out a sigh of relief. Second, Rudy tested “clear”, which is great because this means that Rudy does not carry any potentially troublesome alleles. He is even clear of CDDY, which many people try to avoid. Rudy is also fully furnished (F/F), has a straight coat (-/-), along with carrying both phantom and sable.

A Mini Goldendoodle in Madras, Oregon

After Rudy passed his Goldendoodle DNA testing, Rudy went to live with Brownie, another of our Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle studs in Madras, Oregon. Our poodle prince and mini Goldendoodle became quick friends, and enjoy cuddling and playing together at their guardian’s home is Central Oregon. Plus, Rudy is getting exposed to city sounds, which we can lack out in our more rural location. We’re excited for Rudy and Brownie’s sweet friendship too! Rudy will come back to our place from time to time, so that we can also imprint on this little goldendoodle treasure. Rudy has a few more steps before he becomes fully-certified by the Goldendoodle Association of North America. One of these will come in the next month, as we will be getting his hips, elbows, heart, and patellas screened with a vet clinic in Redmond, Oregon to see if they are qualifying goldendoodle scores. If Rudy passes those tests, we will get his eyes screened in Eugene, Oregon to make sure they are clear of any heritable traits.

The Oregon Mini Goldendoodle King

If Rudy does end up passing his required testing, we are hoping to breed him with Rosie, Winnie, and potentially Maple. This would create a new goldendoodle line for us of petite and mini Goldendoodles. Rudy would produce deep red litters with Rose and Winnie, and there would be some red and apricot abstracts with Maple. We may even use Rudy as the stud for our first Golden Mountain Doodle litter here in Oregon. These are a three-way cross with poodles, bernese mountain dogs, and golden retrievers.

We hold all of this loosely since Rudy still needs to pass his health testing. However, we can dream of Rudy’s petite and mini Goldendoodles. Rudy is such a treasure, and we are hopefully praying that Mr. Rudy will continue to thrive and grow.

Thanks for following along with our Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle journey here in the Oregon high desert; we appreciate you!

Warmly,

Erin and Jay
