Cozy Winter Goldendoodle Puppies

This week has been one full of winter’s abundance! We welcomed Honey’s litter of medium goldendoodle puppies into the world. As this Cozy Winter litter of ten goldendoodle puppies arrived, we are getting ready to send off Rosie’s litter of petite goldendoodle puppies to their homes as well. We also welcomed a new golden retriever puppy to the High Desert Family Doodle pack, who will be a hopeful puppy mom for us down the road. Alongside of this, we’re getting closer to confirming Yose’s pregnancy of standard Bernedoodle puppies and bred Maple with Luca for her hopeful first litter of mini Goldendoodle puppies. We also both had the opportunity to provide our dogs with a large supply of natural protein as we both harvested elk in the surrounding country. It’s been a wild couple of weeks!

Honey’s newborn medium Goldendoodle puppies are getting their first feeding in!

Honey kept us patiently waiting, showing slight signs of labor over a couple days before going into labor on Tuesday. Her first couple goldendoodle puppies came out surprisingly quick, within a minute of each other! After that, she delivered a puppy every forty-five minutes or so, leading to TEN goldendoodle puppies by three o’clock. We thought there may have been eleven puppies after looking at the x-rays, so we were on alert for a couple days after her tenth puppy. However, Honey settled down smoothly and bloomed into her maternal instincts, showing her puppies attention and compassion. Honey had seven female Goldendoodle puppies, and three male puppies. These medium goldendoodle puppies are all healthy and gaining weight, which is a key factor to monitor. These goldendoodles will go home right around Valentine’s Day, and we currently have one spot open in this litter.

One of Rosie’s mini Goldendoodle puppies getting ready for their next adventure with their new family!

On the weekend, we got to do a go-home with Rosie’s mini goldendoodle puppies. These little angels had a couple wild rides into town for vet appointments, but they quickly rolled with the changes in plans and let nothing get in the way of their wagging tails. These petite goldendoodles found homes in Washington, Oregon, and California. One fun thing about this litter is that two of the puppies will live across the street from each other as they live with two different generations of the same family! One of females - Snowflake - is now Ruthie, and is living with a guardian home in the Beaverton area with a family that we have known for close to twenty years! She’ll be showered in love, and hopefully she will pass her health-testing in the coming months. Let’s go, Ruthie!

A Yose-Remi puppy from her last litter; so we’re hopeful for more similarly cute Bernedoodle puppies!

For our upcoming litters, we are planning to confirm Yose and Maple’s pregnancies over the next couple weeks via ultrasound. If pregnant Yose’s standard Bernedoodle litter - with Remi as the sire - is due the first week of February, and Maple’s litter of mini Goldendoodles is due mid February. Both of these puppy mommas have great energy - and a strong appetite - which we are hoping is a good sign for these pregnancies. Yose has already proven herself as a wonderful momma, and this will be Maple’s first litter.

This elk will feed both our dogs and our people! We’re so thankful for this opportunity.

As we’ve been loving and shepherding these puppies and mommas, we both had the opportunity to harvest two cow elks from the surrounding country. This provides a large quantity of high quality protein for both our family, and our dog pack. We love to supplement our dog’s diets with high quality proteins, such as elk or grass-fed beef, to help make sure our dogs are getting all the nutrients they need to flourish. Processing game meat can take a surprising amount of time, but we deeply value this opportunity to provide for people and dogs alike. For a sense of scale, we ended this process with around two hundred pounds of meat for us, and around a hundred pounds for our dogs! While that seems like a lot of meat, it can go quick when we’re feeding each dog some meat for every meal.

In sum, December has been a wild ride for us. However, we’re even more convinced of the beauty and blessing present in the path we’re walking as we share the joy of these beautiful companion animals. It’s fabulous to see these puppies grow into adults, and thrive throughout not just Oregon, but Washington, California, and throughout the rest of the country! Our children love being a part of this process, along with our beautiful community.
