The Bernedoodles are here!

Our mini Bernedoodle and Goldendoodle Puppies are going throughout Seattle, Salem, and Redmond

This past week has been full at High Desert Family Doodles, because three litters arrived into the world. The first was Winnie’s mini Goldendoodle puppies, but this was quickly followed by Belle’s litter of medium Bernedoodle puppies. The last litter was Klaire’s litter of mini Bernedoodle puppies. It was an action packed week, as the first mini Goldendoodle litter was born late Monday night. Belle’s Bernedoodle litter was born late Wednesday night. Finally, Klaire’s litter of Bernedoodle puppies was born Saturday evening! There are 26 puppies between all three litters, and we love each one of them. All of the deliveries were pretty straight forward, and both Belle and Klaire are embracing motherhood!

Based on the X-rays, we predicted that Belle’s litter was going to be BIG! We were prepped and ready to go early in the week for her Bernedoodle puppies, because she was showing signs of getting close to labor. Her temp dropped, and she began to pant and dig, so we knew that the time was getting closer. We got her settled at Jessica’s house, as she will be whelping her litter there. The time came in the middle of the night, and Erin joined Jessica to welcome Belle’s puppies into the world. There ended up being 11 puppies, four females and seven males. They’re all healthy and gaining weight, which is really important for the first week. All of Belle’s puppies are either phantom abstract, or a tri-color parti, and have wonderful brown tips. Belle is becoming such a great mom. She’s intentionally tending to her puppies, and making sure they are getting everything they need. We’re thrilled to see her flower like this, and are excited for her to share this love with her Bernedoodle puppies.

Klaire's mini Bernedoodle puppies are resting outside of Redmond

We had a break for a couple days until Klaire delivered all of her mini Bernedoodle puppies. That time came on Saturday afternoon. One point of interest was how quickly Klaire ramped up. She seemed pretty settled and calm throughout the day. However, she went through a distinct transition in the afternoon. Her temp dropped, she began panting, and aggressively nesting. Our females don’t typically turn this quickly, which is why it’s important to pay attention to their behavior along with physiological signs. She delivered her first mini bernedoodle puppy around 6pm, and ended up pausing for a couple hours. At the two-hour mark, we began to get concerned about a puppy potentially being stuck. So at that point, we put Klaire in a bit of a pseudo-yoga pose, lifting her legs up to her chest. The hope was that it would help a puppy further down the birth canal, and it had its desire effect. Klaire gave birth to a puppy minutes later, and the final three Bernedoodles came over the next couple hours. Klaire ended up having 6 healthy mini Bernedoodle babies, two girls and four boys. They look quite similar to Belle’s puppies, although they are smaller than Belle’s litter.

We are a week in now to our three litters, and all of the puppies are doing great! All the puppies are gaining weight, and Winnie, Belle, and Klaire are great moms. We are going through ENS/ESI with these litters to help jumpstart their neurological formation and exposure to the surrounding world. We’ve also began introducing different dogs to these litters - with their moms obviously there - to help teach the puppies that other dogs are trust-worthy, and that they can be strong and confident. We will continue to weigh all the puppies for the first two weeks, making sure that these mini Bernedoodles and Goldendoodles are feeding and growing well.

Stay tuned, as we will share as much joy from these beautiful litters as we can with all y’all!

Warmly,

Erin and Jay
