Los Angeles isn't the first city that comes to mind when people think 'bernedoodle' — but it should be. The dog culture in LA is real, the parks are plentiful, and the bernedoodle's low-shedding coat makes them ideal for the apartments, bungalows, and beachside homes that define so much of Southern California living. A bernedoodle in Los Feliz, Silver Lake, or Manhattan Beach is a very happy dog.

There is no bernedoodle breed club — which means most breeders are self-regulating on health testing. We've chosen to hold ourselves to the standards of GANA and Good Dog instead. Our bernedoodle parents pass OFA hip, elbow, patella, cardiac, and eye clearances plus full genetic panels before entering our program. Read about our parent dogs and health clearances here. How We Raise Our Puppies for Los Angeles
Los Angeles is one of the most stimulating environments a dog can grow up in — and a puppy who isn't prepared for that can struggle. We raise ours inside our family home in Madras from birth, beginning Early Neurological Stimulation and Early Scent Introduction in the first days of life and following the Puppy Culture and BadAss Breeder curriculum throughout. The goal is a bernedoodle puppy who arrives in LA already equipped for its energy — curious rather than anxious, confident rather than timid.
Getting your puppy to Los Angeles
We fly bernedoodle puppies into LAX — the most popular option for our Southern California families. You're also welcome to fly into Roberts Field (RDM) in Redmond, Oregon, or drive to Madras for an in-person pickup. A: They do very well, especially in the milder coastal areas. The low-shedding coat helps, and they adapt readily to a variety of living situations. Minis are particularly popular in LA's more compact homes. We even send bernedoodle puppies to San Diego.
